Gurugram : In a move aimed at strengthening the future-ready workforce in Uttar Pradesh, the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), functioning under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uttar Pradesh Electronics Corporation Limited (UPLC). The collaboration is designed to equip young talent in the state with advanced skills in cutting-edge sectors like electronics and semiconductors, paving the way for Uttar Pradesh to position itself as a global manufacturing and industrial hub.
The partnership will primarily focus on bridging the growing skill gap in the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector. As part of the initiative, ESSCI will roll out targeted training, upskilling, and reskilling programmes tailored to industry demands. These programmes will place strong emphasis on emerging and high-value domains such as semiconductor design, chip fabrication, and advanced electronics manufacturing technologies.
Leveraging its extensive statewide network, UPLC will enable seamless collaboration by connecting ESSCI with educational institutions, research bodies, and various government departments. This integrated approach is expected to create a robust ecosystem for skill development, innovation, and industry alignment across Uttar Pradesh.
In addition to addressing immediate workforce requirements, both organizations will jointly assess long-term skill demands and workforce trends within the state. Plans are also underway to establish a dedicated ‘Centre of Excellence’, which will serve as a catalyst for research, innovation, and the growth of startups in the electronics and semiconductor sectors.
Commenting on the development, Madhavendra Singh, CEO of ESSCI, described the agreement as a crucial milestone in preparing India’s workforce for initiatives like the India Semiconductor Mission. He emphasized that the objective extends beyond employment generation to fostering innovation-driven talent capable of leading the industry. By combining UPLC’s infrastructure strengths with ESSCI’s technical expertise, the initiative aims to elevate Uttar Pradesh to international standards in electronics manufacturing.
The collaboration is expected to not only provide world-class training opportunities to local youth but also enhance their employability through strong industry linkages and placement support. With these efforts, Uttar Pradesh is likely to attract increased investment from leading global electronics firms, further solidifying its position as a preferred destination for high-tech industries.
