New Delhi : At the ongoing Army Commanders’ Conference in New Delhi, Cabinet Secretary T. V. Somanathan addressed senior leadership of the Indian Army, outlining key priorities for strengthening national security and preparedness.

In his address, the Cabinet Secretary stressed the urgent need for India to develop sovereign capabilities in artificial intelligence, highlighting that indigenous AI models are essential for safeguarding strategic autonomy in an increasingly technology-driven world. He also drew attention to the importance of building resilient and secure supply chains, especially in the context of rapidly shifting global geopolitical dynamics.

Emphasising stronger coordination between civilian institutions and the armed forces, he called for deeper civil-military synergy to effectively respond to both emerging security challenges and peacetime requirements. He underlined that a “whole-of-nation” approach—where government, industry, and society work in unison—is crucial to achieving comprehensive national strength.

During an interactive session, Somanathan elaborated on the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, describing it not merely as a government initiative but as a collective mindset. He noted that true self-reliance can only be achieved when every sector, institution, and citizen actively contributes to building a robust, resilient, and self-sufficient India.
