Iran Envoy Highlights Strong India Ties, Warns of Firm Stand Amid Regional Tensions

New Delhi : Mohammad Fatahli, Ambassador of the Iran to India, has reaffirmed the importance of India-Iran relations while addressing ongoing geopolitical developments and regional tensions.

Speaking on bilateral ties, the Ambassador emphasized that both India and Iran share common strategic interests and continue to maintain stable and constructive relations despite challenging global circumstances. He noted that cooperation between the two nations remains strong and mutually beneficial.

Commenting on the recent negotiations in Islamabad, Dr. Fatahli stated that Iran considers certain demands made by the United States as “unlawful.” He reiterated that Iran remains open to dialogue, provided its conditions are respected. At the same time, he underlined that Iran is prepared to respond firmly if required, signaling readiness to defend its interests in the face of escalating tensions.

Addressing concerns regarding the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz, the Ambassador stated that future developments would depend on the evolving situation. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to international law and the principle of freedom of navigation, adding that the country will soon announce a formal mechanism to ensure clarity for all nations.

The remarks reflect Iran’s dual approach of keeping diplomatic channels open while maintaining a firm stance on national interests amid ongoing regional uncertainties.
