New Delhi :The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has launched the Consultative Committee Management System (CCMS) portal to improve the management and monitoring of Consultative Committee meetings, making their functioning more streamlined and systematic.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, said the portal has enhanced the efficiency of coordination and oversight of these committees.

He noted that Consultative Committees were established to provide a platform for informal interaction between Members of Parliament and the Government, enabling discussions on matters of public importance.

As per the guidelines governing these committees, MPs are free to deliberate on any issue that can appropriately be discussed in Parliament. However, it is not considered appropriate to refer in either House to matters discussed during committee meetings, a norm binding on both the Government and Members.

To improve participation, the Ministry ensures that information regarding meetings is communicated to MPs through both physical notices and electronic means, along with follow-ups by officials.

The Minister emphasised that the CCMS portal is playing a key role in strengthening the functioning of Consultative Committees and enhancing coordination between stakeholders.
