India Achieves 1 Billion Tonne Coal Production Milestone for Second Consecutive Year

New Delhi : With sustained and coordinated efforts across the sector, India has once again achieved the landmark of 1 billion tonne (BT) coal production, marking this significant milestone for the second consecutive year.

This achievement highlights the country’s growing self-reliance in the energy sector and its firm commitment to ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply to key industries. The consistent rise in coal production has enabled the nation to effectively meet increasing energy demands while supporting the power sector in maintaining record-high coal stock levels at coal-based thermal power plants.

The milestone reflects robust planning, efficient execution, and strong coordination across the coal value chain. It also underscores the collective contribution of all stakeholders in strengthening the country’s energy security and supporting its economic growth trajectory.
