New Delhi : Vikram Misri visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi to convey India’s condolences on the passing of Ali Khamenei. During the visit, the Foreign Secretary signed the condolence register on behalf of the Government and the people of India, expressing sympathy and solidarity with Iran in this time of grief.
The gesture reflected India’s respect for the late Iranian leader and its support for the Iranian people following the loss. The condolence message conveyed the sentiments of the Indian leadership and acknowledged the significance of the moment for Iran.
The development was shared on the social media platform X by Randhir Jaiswal, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs. He stated that the Foreign Secretary signed the condolence book at the Iranian Embassy as a mark of respect and on behalf of the Government of India.
India and Iran share long-standing diplomatic and cultural relations, and the condolence visit highlighted India’s gesture of respect during this period of mourning.
