New Delhi : Following his meeting with Donald Trump, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz addressed recent remarks concerning Spain, emphasizing that the country is an integral member of the European Union and should not be singled out for criticism. This is reported various international media sources .

Merz stated that any issues involving Spain should be approached collectively by EU members, stressing that European partners would work together to reach a unified outcome. He noted that some of the criticism appeared to be linked mainly to Spain’s contribution within NATO, but clarified that this matter is separate from Europe’s ongoing efforts to reach broader agreements, including trade arrangements.

The German Chancellor also commented on recent tensions involving United Kingdom, where questions were raised over approval of refueling stops at American military bases located on British territory. According to Merz, the criticism directed at the issue was unwarranted, particularly after earlier restrictions were revised.

He emphasized the importance of cooperation among European allies and called for balanced discussions on defense commitments and international partnerships.
