New Delhi : The administration of former US President Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to hold a high-level meeting at the White House with leading American defense contractors to speed up weapons manufacturing, according to international media reports.
Major US defense companies, including Lockheed Martin and RTX Corporation, are expected to participate in the discussions focused on strengthening the US defense industry and expanding military production capacity.
Reports indicate that the United States Department of Defense is preparing a supplemental budget estimated at around $50 billion. The proposed funding is aimed at replenishing depleted weapons stockpiles and increasing the production of key cruise missiles and advanced military systems.
Officials have also reportedly warned defense manufacturers to prioritize production targets and national security requirements over shareholder payouts. Companies that fail to meet performance expectations could face penalties or even termination of government contracts.
The move highlights Washington’s growing focus on defense readiness, military supply chains, and rapid weapons production amid escalating global security challenges and geopolitical tensions.
