Chandigarh : Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that Ambala Cantonment, which already has a distinct identity in sports, will now see a new destination for lawn tennis players and enthusiasts. Giving major good news to players, the Energy Minister announced that “two new ultra-modern synthetic turf lawn tennis courts” equipped with modern facilities will be constructed in Ambala Cantonment.

Sh. Vij said that both modern lawn tennis courts will be built using “ultra-modern technology” within the Ambala Club premises, right next to the War Heroes Memorial Stadium in Ambala Cantonment. Energy Minister Anil Vij has released Rs.50 lakh from his discretionary fund to the Municipal Council for the construction of the tennis courts. The two courts will be constructed soon, providing lawn tennis enthusiasts and players with better playing opportunities.

The biggest feature of these courts is that players will receive world-class infrastructure, which will not only improve the quality of practice but will also make it possible to host competitions in the future.

Facilities to Be Available at the Synthetic Turf Lawn Tennis Courts

Energy Minister Anil Vij said that the tennis courts are being developed according to modern standards and will include the following facilities:
• Day-Night Match Facility: High-mast LED floodlights will be installed on the courts. This will provide relief from intense summer heat and allow players to practice and play matches at night.
• Synthetic Turf Surface: Instead of traditional clay courts, an international-standard synthetic hard court surface will be constructed. This surface is safer for players’ knees and provides proper ball bounce.
• Seating Arrangement for Spectators: Proper seating arrangements will be made for spectators and sports staff to encourage players during matches. This will help increase the popularity of tennis at the local level.

Emerging Tennis Players Will Get a Professional Platform: Anil Vij

Energy Minister Anil Vij said that with the construction of government synthetic courts at Ambala Club, talented youth from all sections of society will get an affordable and professional platform. The new tennis courts will not only promote health and fitness but will also help produce future tennis stars from Haryana like Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, Sania Mirza, and Rohan Bopanna.

Another Step Toward Establishing Ambala Cantonment as Haryana’s ‘Sports City’: Anil Vij

Energy Minister Anil Vij said that Ambala Cantonment is touching world-class standards in sports infrastructure. After the international-level FIFA-approved football stadium at War Heroes Stadium, the all-weather swimming pool, gymnastics hall, badminton hall, and shooting range, this tennis court project is another major step toward establishing Ambala Cantonment as the ‘Sports City’ of Haryana.
