Gurugram : DC Ajay Kumar stated that air pollution control is not merely a government formality, but a collective effort to protect public health and the environment. He urged every department to fulfill its responsibility for pollution control with full dedication. DC Ajay Kumar issued these instructions during a review meeting with district officials on Friday evening, following a video conference chaired by CAQM Chairman Rajesh Verma and Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi.
The video conference included a detailed discussion on GRAP restrictions and their effective compliance. Following this, the DC reviewed the pollution situation in the district and issued strict guidelines.
DC Ajay Kumar said that 100% compliance with all GRAP-2 regulations must be ensured. To control dust at construction sites, green nets, dust control equipment, and water sprinkling should be regularly installed. He directed that all ongoing construction projects with an area of more than 500 square meters be registered on the online dust portal for effective monitoring. He stated that burning of any type of garbage or waste material will be strictly prohibited, and that the concerned departments should take immediate action in such cases.
The DC directed the Transport Department to thoroughly inspect diesel buses and heavy vehicles coming from outside states and issue challans to violators. The Municipal Corporations of Gurugram and Manesar have been instructed to regularly spray water on main roads and green belt areas. Emphasis was also placed on increasing the use of anti-smog guns and water sprinklers. He urged the Pollution Control Board to continuously monitor industrial units and take strict action against those that do not comply with emission standards. The DC urged coordinated action from all departments, emphasizing that air pollution control is a continuous process, requiring discipline and accountability at every level.
DC Ajay Kumar also stated that administrative efforts will only be successful if citizens also become part of this campaign. He urged citizens to follow the guidelines issued by the administration so that the combined efforts of all can improve the environmental quality.
ADC Vatsal Vashisht, SDM and RTA Paramjit Chahal, Regional Officer (PCB) Krishna Kumar, Deputy Director Agriculture Dr. Anil Tanwar, Motor Vehicle Officer Harendra Veer, SDO PCB Vishal, and officials from various departments were present at the meeting.
