Gurugram : Haryana Governor Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh released the second edition of the book “International Relations – For Civil Services and State Services Examinations” at the University of Southampton in Gurugram on Tuesday. Former Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Damu Ravi, was the special guest at the event. The book was written by Prof. Ashok Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Sports University Haryana, and Dr. Rajesh Mohan, DCP Traffic, Gurugram.
Governor Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh, in his address before the book’s release, said that the study of international relations has become more relevant than ever in the 21st century. Borders may separate countries geographically, but the world is more interconnected than ever before in terms of economy, technology, communication, and the environment. He said that in today’s world, no issue is isolated—whether it’s climate change, trade, energy security, or public health—every topic has global implications. Governor Prof. Ghosh said that studying international relations gives students a broad perspective and prepares them for balanced, rational, and responsible leadership. He said that this book is not just a guide for examinations, but a work that provides a perspective for life, inspiring young people with thoughtfulness, prudence, and a sense of national service.

Damu Ravi, the guest of honor at the event, stated that this latest edition of the book is extremely useful and timely, covering recent global changes and new dimensions in India’s foreign policy. This book is beneficial not only for civil service aspirants but also for policymakers, researchers, and ordinary citizens alike. He added that today, the impact of international politics and domestic events is deeply intertwined—what happens outside impacts the country, and what happens inside has an impact on the global landscape. Consequently, this book will prove useful to its target audience.
Addressing the event, Ashok Kumar, the book’s author and Vice Chancellor of Sports University, Haryana, said that the book provides a deep understanding of India’s foreign policy and changing global politics. It provides a detailed analysis of India’s Indo-Pacific strategy, participation in the Quad, humanitarian leadership during the COVID crisis, and its growing influence on multilateral forums such as the G-20 and BRICS. The book also includes a detailed account of India’s Foreign Minister, Dr. S. The perspectives of Jaishankar and other leading Indian thinkers have also been included, so that readers can understand India’s perspective from the perspective of Indian diplomats and scholars.
In his address, Dr. Rajesh Mohan, co-author of the book and DCP Traffic, Gurugram, said that international relations are no longer limited to agreements and formal diplomacy; rather, it has become a constantly changing process. He said that today’s geopolitics is influenced by the rapid pace of the digital age, where even a single tweet can change global equations. This edition of the book covers contemporary topics such as global politics, India’s foreign policy, climate diplomacy, and digital security, which will prove useful for students, civil service aspirants, and policymakers alike.
