Gurugram : To commemorate Haryana Day, the Department of Art and Cultural Affairs, Haryana is organizing “Haryanvi Folk Song/Ragini and Haryanvi Folk Dance (Group)” competitions from November 1 to 3, 2025, at Yavanika Ground, Sector 5, Panchkula. The objective of this event is to promote the rich folk culture, traditions, and folk arts of Haryana.
District Information and Public Relations Officer, Bijendra Kumar, informed that clear rules and eligibility criteria have been set for participants to participate in the competition.
Haryanvi Folk Song/Ragini:
The maximum number of accompanists per solo participant should be 5, and accompanists can also sing in chorus or in a ragini group. The duration of the performance will be 4 to 6 minutes. The performance must be presented in its original folk tune. The medium of expression must be in any dialect of the Haryanvi language. Judging will be based on voice quality, authenticity of the tune, composition, presentation, and overall impact.
Haryanvi Folk Dance:
A maximum of 10 participants and a maximum of 5 accompanists per team are required. The duration of the performance will be 6 to 8 minutes. Judging will be based on rhythm, structure, expression, costumes, makeup, sets and props, quality of the dance, etc.
The District Information and Public Relations Officer stated that only one entry per college per category is permitted. Film songs and recorded tunes are strictly prohibited. The time allotted for stage setup, equipment arrangement, sound check, and overall preparation will not exceed 10 minutes. The theme of the performance must be civilized and cultural. The subject matter should not be vulgar or obscene. Participating teams are responsible for removing their sets and materials immediately after completing their performance. Copies of a brief note describing the song’s theme (Hindi/English) and text (if any) must be submitted along with the entry. The accompaniment must be live; recorded music or audio/CDs are not permitted.

The deadline for applications is October 30, 2025. Organized by the Department of Art and Cultural Affairs, Haryana, this competition will not only provide a platform for artists but also preserve the state’s folk traditions and cultural heritage.
