DC Ajay Kumar holds Meeting with Officials to Issue Necessary Guidelines ro Control Air Pollution

Strict adherence to GRAP-II regulations is essential for pollution control – DC

Calls on district residents to participate in controlling air pollution

Gurugram : To further implement stricter measures to control the rising air pollution in the district, DC Ajay Kumar chaired a meeting with officials today. He held the meeting in the conference hall at the Mini Secretariat and clearly stated that all guidelines laid down in the second phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) must be followed, and negligence at any level will not be tolerated.

DC Ajay Kumar stated that GRAP-II restrictions have been implemented in Gurugram district, requiring the implementation of pollution control measures with utmost seriousness. He issued strict instructions to the Pollution Control Board, urban local bodies, and other relevant department heads to take strict measures to control pollution in the district. All departments should work together at the grassroots level to maintain the district’s Air Quality Index. The DC directed that special attention be paid to dust control measures on all major roads and industrial areas. The concerned departments should regularly spray water on trees and plants along the roads to provide relief from dust. Anti-smog guns should be used in areas with high dust levels. The NHAI and Municipal Corporation were directed to identify dust hotspots on roads and national highways and ensure regular cleaning and water sprinkling. The DC directed the police department to maintain smooth traffic flow to control air pollution levels. He directed all departments, including the Pollution Control Board, to regularly inspect construction projects and industrial units and ensure strict action against those violating GRAP regulations.

DC Ajay Kumar stated that there will be a complete ban on burning garbage or any type of waste. Departments were instructed to take immediate action on such cases. He said that the Pollution Control Department should ensure that all construction work taking place on an area exceeding 500 square meters is recorded on the online portal. Construction debris should be disposed of at the designated site. He said that all pollution control activities should be monitored and reported regularly so that the district administration can take necessary decisions in a timely manner.

DC Ajay Kumar said that the administration’s efforts will only be fruitful if the public actively cooperates. He appealed to Gurugram residents to maintain cleanliness around them, avoid burning garbage, and have vehicles serviced regularly to control pollution. He also requested citizens to follow the guidelines issued by the administration so that collective efforts can improve the environmental quality.

Regional officers Krishna Yadav and Akanksha Tanwar from the Pollution Control Board, DRO Vijay Yadav, along with officials from the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, Municipal Corporation of Manesar, GMDA, and NHAI were present at the meeting.
