New Delhi : 2025 Union Minister for Rural Development, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, held a high-level meeting at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, today to review the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and provided guidance to officials regarding the future action plan. Senior officials, including Rural Development Secretary Shri Shailesh Singh, were present at the meeting.

In the meeting, officials briefed Union Minister Shri Chouhan on the progress of the scheme state-wise. He stated that work progress has slowed slightly in some hilly areas and some states due to natural disasters, but work is proceeding smoothly elsewhere. The meeting specifically focused on the northeastern states and Naxal-affected areas, including Chhattisgarh. While providing guidance to officials regarding work in the northeastern region, Union Minister Shri Chouhan stated that he would soon convene a special meeting in the northeastern region with the participation of Chief Ministers and state representatives, covering the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and other rural development issues, including MNREGA, skill development, and the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), to ensure comprehensive and timely implementation of the schemes.

The meeting also discussed a nationwide celebration to mark the 25th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in December 2025. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) has been a historic initiative, bringing about profound changes in the lives of the rural population. Completing 25 years of the scheme is a major achievement. The Union Minister also directed the officials to issue a report on the 25-year successful journey of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana so that information about the successful scheme can reach the people at the nationwide level.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh instructed all the officials to work in coordination with the states to bring more progress in the work, find quick solutions to any obstacles and problems that may arise. The Union Minister said that work should be done with the aim of ensuring that the roads are constructed in a timely manner with good quality.
