New Delhi :  After tariff conflict, US President Donald Trump has given an another jolt to Indians. He has announced to impose $100,000 fee on H-1B visas. earlier it was between $1700 and $4500 only . In 2024 70% of H-1B visas were issued to Indians , hence it will impact a lot on Indian professionals. This fee will be paid by the companies . To spend such a huge amount to hire Indians to work in the US will be a big question ? This move will hamper US tech sector specially in IT .

US companies use this visa to bring skilled professionals from countries like India to work in the US. The H-1B visa is valid for 3 years, which can be extended for another 3 years. Currently, the US issues 85,000 H-1B visas every year. The fee for this visa was previously between $1700 and $4500, which has now been increased to $100,000. This could further complicate the process for Indians to obtain a green card (US citizenship). Companies may also be reluctant to sponsor green cards for Indian employees.

It will entirely depend on the value of the employee. If the company believes that you are so skilled that no American can do your job, then they might pay this fee. However, companies will not want to spend this much on entry-level or mid-level professionals. In fact, most tech companies pay such employees much less than $100,000. In this situation, spending one lakh dollars annually on visas alone could become a burden for companies.
