Has the Indian Government Accepted this Mediation : Sachin Pilot
New Delhi : Congress party today raised several questions on the announcement of ceasefire with Pakistan by the Indian government on Saturday evening. Senior party leader Sachin Pilot said in a press conference held at the Congress headquarters that the entire situation has changed very rapidly in the last 24 hours. We were all surprised that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was announced by the President of America. He questioned how any international mediation was accepted in the matter of two countries. The Congress leader demanded the central government to call a special session of Parliament to discuss all these circumstances.
Senior Congress party leader Sachin Pilot expressed surprise saying that this is probably the first time that the President of America announces ceasefire through social media. We should also pay attention to what he has written on his social media post. He said that it is very surprising to internationalize the issue between India and Pakistan.
Sachin Pilot said that I want to offer condolences and pay tribute on behalf of the Congress party to the Indian citizens who have lost their lives in the areas near the border in the last few days. He said that I salute the valor and courage of the Indian Army. The Indian Army has once again shown that it is one of the best armies in the world.
He said that the Congress Party has been demanding for a long time that a special Parliament session be called. You will remember that in 1994 the Congress government unanimously passed a resolution to take back PoK. Now the time has come that we should repeat the 1994 resolution.
He stressed that after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Government of India got full support from the entire country and every political party including the opposition. We had clearly said from the very first day that this is an attack on our soul and it is necessary to give a befitting reply to it. We are proud of the steps taken by the army.
The Congress leader demanded, “The government should listen to our demand and call a special session of Parliament to discuss it so that the message goes out to the whole world that the whole country is united against terrorism and Pakistan’s audacity.”
Sachin Pilot expressed surprise saying that America said two days ago, it is none of our business… after that the Secretary of State, Vice-President and the President first announce that ceasefire is happening, after that Pakistan and India also announce ceasefire.
Addressing the journalists, he asked:
• Has the Indian government accepted this mediation?
• On what conditions has America made this announcement, this is a big question. Kashmir has also been mentioned in it.
• Diplomacy has its own role, but if ceasefire is announced from Washington in this manner, then many questions arise.
• We should pay attention to what the former general of the Indian Army has said on this issue.
• I believe that the border violations that happened after the ceasefire was announced destroy its credibility.
On the question of the journalists, the Congress leader reiterated his demand and said that the Government of India should call an all-party meeting and talk about what did not happen in the last two meetings. The Prime Minister should come to this all-party meeting and take the whole country and parties into confidence, because all the parties had given full support to the Government of India keeping aside their ideology.
He stressed that the Prime Minister could not come to the previous all-party meetings, so another all-party meeting should be called, so that the country and the opposition get confidence. In the meeting, there should be a discussion on what conditions the ceasefire has happened? If Pakistan is firing even after the ceasefire, then till when can its credibility be trusted? What is the guarantee that such an incident will not be carried out in the future?
Sachin Pilot said that when the war broke out in 1971, America had said that we are sending our seventh fleet to the Bay of Bengal. Then the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi ji stepped forward and did what was necessary in the interest of the country. Today we are remembering her. When the Parliament was attacked, Atal ji was the Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi ji was the Leader of the Opposition. She stood on the floor of the House and said that the whole country and the entire opposition is with the government. Maintaining those traditions, the main opposition party Congress Party and all the parties again gave full support to the government.He
Shri Pilot said that Apart from this, the government should also put its side on the statements made by America on the Kashmir issue, because it is a bilateral issue. Therefore, a special session of Parliament should be called and the 1994 resolution should be reiterated. It should be clearly told to the country that: No third-party involvement will be accepted. It is a bilateral issue and it is India’s and Pakistan’s issue, and no country, including America, should have a space to intervene in a bilateral issue.
speaking on India’s foreign policy He said that for the last several decades, our foreign policy was very clear. There was no talk of mediation, agreement and involvement of third party in it. In such a situation, our appeal is that the government should call an all-party meeting. We are all proud of the strength, bravery and efficiency with which our soldiers have taught Pakistan a lesson in the recent past.
