New Delhi : Defense Minister Rajnath Singh today chaired a high-level meeting at South Block, New Delhi to review the security situation along the western border and operational preparedness of the Indian Armed Forces. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh attended the meeting .
It is understood that the Defense Minister reviewed the situation with Pakistan in this meeting. On the night of May 8, Pakistan tried unsuccessfully to carry out drone attacks in several border districts of Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Sen responded favorably and shot down all Pakistan’s drones in the air. On the other hand, Pakistan’s defense network failed to stop India’s countermeasures.
On the other hand, continuous firing is being done by the Pakistani army in the border areas including the Poonch sector of Kashmir. It is reported that more than 10 people living in the border villages of India have been killed. Indian army is also giving a befitting reply.
It is understood that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh discussed these situations with CDS, Defense Secretary and the three army chiefs in this important meeting.
It is worth mentioning that after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, India had taken action with drones late at night on 7 May under Operation Sindoor on the main hideouts of terrorist organizations located in Pakistan. After this, Pakistan is also continuously trying to target Indian cities but failed. On 8 May also, hundreds of drones were sent by Pakistan towards India but the Indian defense system shot them all down in the air. There is no news of any kind of loss of life.
It is likely that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was given complete information about the situation by the army chiefs.
