Gurugram : District and Sessions Judge and Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Gurugram, Chandra Shekhar and Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Gurugram, Ramesh Chandra inspected District Jail Bhondsi.
During the inspection, both the officers took a comprehensive tour of the jail premises. They went to the barracks and interacted with the prisoners and inquired about their legal aid requirements. The officers instructed to ensure that every prisoner is informed about the status of their cases and free legal aid is provided to all the needy.
Apart from this, they also inspected the jail kitchen, hospital and radio station and reviewed the facilities. The Legal Aid Center operating in the jail was also observed and their functioning was reviewed by talking to the prisoner Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) working there. The Legal Aid Center was directed that no prisoner should remain without legal aid.
The women barracks were also inspected, where communication was established with the women prisoners and the legal aid centre run for them was also reviewed. During the inspection, human sensibilities were shown by distributing fruits and sweets to the children living in the jail.
This inspection is an important step towards increasing transparency between the jail administration and the prisoners, solving their problems and providing them timely legal aid.
