Gurugram, March 20 : DC Ajay Kumar called a meeting of GMDA, NHAI and Municipal Corporation officials regarding the proper arrangements to be made at waterlogged places in the district before the monsoon and directed them to solve the problem of waterlogging. In the meeting, he sought answers from the officials about the places in Gurugram city where there was more waterlogging in the last monsoon. What preparations are being made before the monsoon this time.
The DC said that adequate arrangements should be ensured so that waterlogging does not occur in the urban and rural areas of Gurugram due to rain. To ensure smooth drainage of water during the rainy season, it is necessary that all the concerned departments ensure cleaning of the drains in their respective jurisdictions. He clarified that SDM level officers will continuously monitor this work and submit their review report at an interval of 15-15 days. The DC set the deadline for the said work and directed to complete it before the month of June. He directed the NHAI officials to ensure that the drains along both the national highways passing through the district are cleaned and a detailed report is sent to the DC office. The DC said that the five SDMs of the district should keep a close watch on the waterlogging situation in Gurugram, Badshahpur, Manesar, Sohna and Pataudi sub-divisions and ensure a solution by taking special care that the general public does not face any problems due to waterlogging.

The DC said in the meeting that apart from the critical points of waterlogging in the district, GMDA should also identify the possible places where waterlogging problem may occur. In the meeting, GMDA Executive Engineer Vikram Singh said that
the authority has been reducing the number of critical points through proper arrangements for the last several years. This year, 13 such points have been identified in the district and necessary arrangements are being made for drainage of waterlogging there. He informed that the GMDA department will also review the arrangements for drainage by conducting mock drills at 21 points before the monsoon.
