A Senior Journalist gave tips to 2017 Batch of IAS Officers about art of developing good relations with the fourth estate.
Gurugram: Instead of taming and controlling media, bureaucracy should develop cordial relation with it, as both are pillars of democracy and their contacts can help a lot in running the administration for the welfare of people.” This was observed by Pawan Kumar Bansal,Author of book : Tips for Investigative Journalism, while interacting with 2017 batch I.A.S ,officers undergoing training at Haryana Institute of Public Administration Gurugram.
Bansal gave tips to them about art of developing good relations with the fourth estate. Talking about social media, Bansal said that it has negative side also as there is no filter of news but at the same time it cannot be ignored. He gave several examples to prove his point as how good relations with media has helped the bureaucracy in running administration better and as well as how it helped in saving them from persecution of their political bosses.A senior journalist urged the officers to discharge their duties without having consideration of caste, creed, reliogion and region.
Quoting from his books on politics and governance of Haryana.”Haryana Ke Lalo Ke Sabrange Kisse” and “Gustkahi Maaf Haryana “, Bansal discussed about Haryanas politics of defection,”Aaya Ram-Gaya Ram” phenomena,Floor crossing and Bharat Darshan besides the decisive role of Haryanvi politicians in national politics,including the ouster of Rajiv Gandhi,Chander Shekhar, V.P Singh and Morarji Desai from power.
On this occasion Mohinder Kumar retired I.A.S and, consultant and course director of H.I.P.A said that HIPA as a nodel agency of State is involved in designing detailed intensive training scheduled for Induction Training Program of I.A.S.and H.C.S officers with a vision to upgrade qualities of professionalism, responsiveness, integrity and courage among-st civil servants.
