Lions Club Gurgaon city Organises Awareness Program in Shalom Hills International School Sushant Lok
Experts say that Air-pollution is also the Resultant of Over-Population in NCR Cities

Gurugram : Lions Club Gurgaon city organised an awareness program under the special drive of its “Save mother earth project” on tuesday at Shalom Hills International School, Sushant Lok, Gurugram. Under the chairmanship of Lion D V Taneja experts briefed the participants about the drastic situation created by air pollution, excessive use of plastic and also discussed water pollution. They were of the opinion that if only one remedy can be considered for all such evils that is “Say no to Plastics” and stick to “Tree Plantation”.
The program began with the welcome speech by Atul Bhat, Principal, Shalom Hills International School Sushant Lok Gurugram. He also briefed about the agenda of the workshop and appreciated the effort of Lions Club Gurgaon City. He said that air pollution is seen as the price we pay for modernisation, and a part and parcel of urban living. he pointed out that now Delhi and Gurgaon’s air is often labelled toxic owing to presence of particulates that can lower our life expectancy and quality of life. We have to be aware about our environment and adopt the Tree Plantation. 
The Key note speaker of the program Lion D V Taneja who is also the project chairman of “Save mother earth project” gave extensive presentation about the main reasons of air pollution and its remedies. He clarified that one of the main reasons of increasing air pollution levels in Gurgaon/Delhi is crop burning in our sate and adjacent states like Punjab and Uttra Pradesh too. He said that the wind carries all the pollutants and dust particles created by crop burning. Lion Taneja was of the opinion that the traffic menace in Gurgaon and Delhi is another reason contributing to this air pollution and smog. Vehicular emission is increasing the hazardous effects of air pollution and smog. Specially in the winter season, dust particles and pollutants in the air become unable to move. Giving some facts he informed that air quality of Gurgaon is going bad to worse day by day. One time PM2.5 had reached up to 347 but now it has com down to 197 that is also dangerous for human life.
He indicated that air-pollution is also the resultant of over-population in the NCR Cities. He added his “Say No to Plastics ” drive with over-population. He said that over use of plastics bags in over-populated are also adds up to the various types of pollutions among which one is “Water Pollution” too. Lion Taneja advised all to become active tool of Tree Plantation that can only save our mother earth.
On this occassion Lion Col S K Sobti, Secretary of Lions Club, Gurgaon city also gave some tips and urged the partricipants to sensitive about our coming generation. He opined that investing less on public infrastructure is actual reason of air pollution. Vindicating his statement he said that less focus on public transport catalyze the people to use their own vehicles in NCR Region. He requested all to love nature and encourage the society to do tree plantation in every street .
At the end of the workshop Rajiv Kumar Manager Lions Public School Gurugram who is dedicated to Lions Club’s “Save mother earth project” made vote of thanks. He also added some points as a cause of pollution. He singled out large scale construction in Delhi-NCR as a culprit of increasing dust and pollution in the air. Mr Kumar said that we must not forget that industrial pollution and garbage dumps are also increasing air pollution as well as water pollution and co related less Tree Plantation in these areas. He appreciated the cooperation of the management of Shalom Hills International School, Sushant Lok, Gurugram in organizing such event of public interest and expressed hope that all will accept Tree Plantation as its essential part of their life.
