Addressing the summit in the presence of Mrs Akie Abe, Delhi LG stresses the need for integrated, resilient and sustainable urban systems to build a next-generation capital

New Delhi: The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi addressed the NDTV World Indo-Japan Summit in the gracious presence of Mrs Akie Abe, highlighting the importance of India–Japan relations in shaping future-oriented development and advancing smart, sustainable urban solutions.

Emphasising the long-term significance of bilateral ties, the LG described the India–Japan partnership as a relationship focused on the future, shaped by the shared vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japan’s late Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The LG stressed that building a next-generation Delhi would require moving beyond expanding physical infrastructure to developing smarter, integrated, resilient and sustainable urban systems.

Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s emphasis on the complementary strengths of the two countries, the LG quoted him as saying, “Japanese technology and Indian talent are a winning combination.”

The LG called for translating this synergy into world-class solutions that support Delhi’s modernisation and contribute to the broader vision of a developed India.

The address underscored the potential of India–Japan cooperation in leveraging advanced technology, innovation and expertise to address urban challenges and improve the efficiency and sustainability of city infrastructure.

The LG concluded by emphasising the importance of harnessing the strengths of both nations to advance the vision of #ViksitDilli and #ViksitBharat.
