Manali/Rohtang, Himachal Pradesh: President Droupadi Murmu visited the strategically significant Atal Tunnel at Rohtang in Himachal Pradesh, highlighting its importance in ensuring year-round connectivity between Manali and the Lahaul-Spiti valley.
The Atal Tunnel, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2020, provides an all-weather road link through the challenging terrain of the Rohtang region and has significantly strengthened connectivity to the Lahaul-Spiti valley.
During her visit, President Murmu described the Atal Tunnel as an “engineering marvel of global standards”, commending the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for its exemplary dedication in constructing the landmark infrastructure.
The President said the iconic tunnel reflects India’s technological prowess, determination and commitment to ensuring seamless connectivity in some of the country’s most challenging terrains.
The Atal Tunnel stands as a major infrastructure milestone, combining strategic significance with advanced engineering to maintain reliable connectivity in the region throughout the year.
