New Delhi : J. D. Vance has issued a strong warning to Iran, stating that the success of upcoming negotiations will depend entirely on Tehran’s approach.
Referring to Donald Trump, Vance said that the President expects swift progress and has directed his team to engage in negotiations in good faith. He added that while an agreement remains possible, it hinges on whether Iran demonstrates similar intent, calling it a “big if.”
Vance is set to lead the US delegation for ceasefire talks, which are expected to take place in Pakistan. The negotiations come amid heightened tensions and fragile diplomatic efforts to stabilise the region.
According to reports, Iran has insisted that developments in Lebanon be included within the scope of the ceasefire framework. However, the United States has firmly rejected this demand, maintaining that Lebanon is outside the ambit of the current proposal.
Meanwhile, the situation on the ground remains volatile. Israel is reported to have continued its strikes in Lebanon, while Hezbollah has launched retaliatory missile attacks towards Israel.
With hostilities persisting on both sides, there are growing concerns that the recently announced two-week ceasefire could face violations from the outset, casting uncertainty over the success of diplomatic efforts.
