Mumbai : Bank of Baroda has launched a new AI-based platform called “bob SAMVAD” to improve customer service at its branches. The platform was officially launched in Mumbai on March 28, 2026, by M. Nagaraju, Secretary, Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance.
bob SAMVAD is a multilingual communication tool that helps customers and bank staff talk to each other in different languages without any difficulty. It uses artificial intelligence to translate conversations in real time, making banking services more accessible and inclusive.
The platform supports 22 languages and allows customers to speak or type in their preferred language. The system instantly translates the message for the staff member and vice versa, ensuring smooth communication. It also offers a voice feature for those who prefer audio instead of reading text.
M. Nagaraju praised the initiative, saying it will improve customer experience and set a new standard in the banking sector by removing language barriers.
Bank of Baroda’s Managing Director and CEO, Debadatta Chand, said the platform reflects the bank’s focus on using technology to provide better and more customer-friendly services.
During the visit, the Secretary also saw “bob Forest,” a green initiative by the bank that promotes sustainability and environmental awareness.
In the first phase, bob SAMVAD will be introduced in 250 branches across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra, and later expanded across the country.
