Gurugram, April 3 : With the monsoon season approaching, the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has intensified its efforts to tackle waterlogging across the city. Acting on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, engineering and sanitation teams have begun groundwork-level operations.
As part of its preparedness strategy, the civic body has initiated the identification of waterlogging-prone areas and launched safety audits across key locations. To strengthen the initiative, MCG is collaborating with NGOs such as Safetypin and Air Pollution Action Group, whose representatives recently participated in a review meeting chaired by the Commissioner.
It has been decided that NGO teams, in coordination with local residents, municipal councillors, and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), will conduct field visits to map vulnerable spots. The collected data will be used to design targeted interventions before the onset of rains.
Focus on Coordination, Technology, and Public Participation
Pradeep Dahiya stated that the primary objective is to ensure maximum relief to residents during the monsoon. He directed all departments to work in close coordination and ensure timely cleaning, repair, and maintenance of drainage systems at identified hotspots.
Emphasising a more proactive approach this year, the Commissioner highlighted the role of technology and community engagement in improving outcomes. Citizens have been encouraged to report waterlogging issues in their localities to enable swift action by authorities.
With early planning and collaborative efforts, the Municipal Corporation aims to significantly reduce waterlogging challenges and improve overall urban resilience during the upcoming monsoon season.
