New Delhi : The Department of Posts celebrated the Platinum Jubilee of the Postal Training Centre Saharanpur, marking 75 years of excellence in training and capacity building, with the release of a commemorative postage stamp.
The stamp was unveiled by Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia at a समारोह held at Akashwani Bhawan in New Delhi. The event was attended by senior officials, including Director General Postal Services Jitendra Gupta, Member (Finance) Manish Sinha, CGCA Vandana Gupta, and Member (HRD) Col. S. F. H. Addressing the gathering, the Minister described the occasion as a historic milestone, stating that the Postal Training Centre is not just an institution but a living legacy that continues to contribute to nation-building. He noted that completing 75 years reflects its enduring role in strengthening India’s administrative and service framework.
Highlighting the future outlook, Scindia emphasised that India is steadily moving towards becoming a global logistics powerhouse by 2030, with the Department of Posts and its workforce playing a crucial role in this transformation.
Established on April 2, 1951, the Postal Training Centre in Saharanpur was founded to build a structured and professional training system for postal personnel in independent India. Over the decades, it has evolved into a premier institution serving multiple states and Union Territories in northern India.
Today, the centre is equipped with modern infrastructure, including advanced computer laboratories and an e-studio, and trains nearly 3,000 employees annually. It focuses on developing skills in e-commerce logistics, digital operations, and financial inclusion, while reinforcing core values of discipline, reliability, and public service.
The commemorative stamp is now available at philatelic bureaus across the country and can also be purchased online through the official e-post office portal.
