The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation monitors large infrastructure projects worth ₹150 crore and above through an online system called PAIMANA. This platform helps track the progress of projects across the country. As of January 2026, PAIMANA is tracking 1,702 projects being carried out by 17 central ministries and departments. These projects have a total estimated cost of ₹33.71 lakh crore, out of which about ₹20.01 lakh crore has already been spent. This information was shared in the Rajya Sabha by Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of the department of Statistics and Programme Implementation and the Ministry of Planning .
He said that the system is connected with the Integrated Project Monitoring Portal of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. This means data is updated automatically, reducing manual work. Around 64% of projects—especially from sectors like roads, petroleum, and coal—are now updated through this automated system.
He said that the platform also provides regular updates and analysis to ministries, helping them identify delays and take timely action. Officials can access dashboards to review progress, and monthly meetings are held to ensure better coordination and faster decision-making.
The minister said that to further speed up infrastructure development, the government reviews key projects through PRAGATI meetings chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In addition, the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) under DPIIT works to resolve issues and fast-track approvals for projects worth ₹500 crore and above through coordination between central and state authorities.
He sadi that the PMG also follows a structured system to address problems at different levels, ensuring that major issues are escalated quickly for resolution.
