Matribhasha Diwas is Launched to Encourage Use of Hindi Language Among Students  

All Students Participated in Painting, Singing and Exhibition

Lions Public School Celebrates “HAR BOLI HAR BHASHA KO SALAAM” 2Gurugram : Lions Public School, Sec 10A, Gurugram celebrated Matribhasha Diwas on Wednesday 21 February  under the guidelines of Ministry of Human Resource Development. This project is launched to promote the dissemination of Mother Tongue and to spread awareness of linguistic and cultural tradition throughout the world.  All students enthusiastically participated and enjoyed the learning of language by participating in various activities like Painting, Singing and Exhibition.

Speaking on this special occasion Rajiv Kumar, Manager of the LPS  emphasized the need to learn language. He said that to understand the diversity of culture in India and abroad too, language is the only medium.  Other forms of literature are also helpful in developing ourselves. This is an important tool that connects on society to others and worldwide. 

Mr Kumar informed that University Grants Commission has declared February 21 as ‘Matribhasha Diwas’ and urged all Universities and institutions to hold activities that promote the linguistic diversity in the country. UGC is following the footsteps of UNESCO which observes ‘International Mother Language Day’ in order to promote ‘full awareness on linguistic and cultural traditions based on understanding, tolerance and dialogue’.

Therefore we must encourage all students to use mother tongue and other languages as well, in India and draw attention to literature, performing arts, scripts and other forms of creative expression.

Sr, Principal Dr. Neelima Prakash encouraged the students to retain their cultural heritage by the use of mother tongue. She said that only a few weeks ago, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had suggested that Hindi be proposed as one of the official languages in the UN. Dr Neelima expressed hope that very soon it will be included in the UN . 

Principal Ms. Renu Verma appreciated the Paintings and Exhibits made by the students and applauded for their singing in maternal language.

Co-ordinator Ms. Kiran Bala shared the linguistic diversity of our country with the students. The occasion was graced by Deputy Co-ordinator Ms. Anita Wadhwa,    Sr. Faculty Ms. Aruna Behl, Ms. Poonam Gavri, Ms. Mamta Shridhar and Ms. Sonia Kashyap.
