US Secretary of State Speaks to Chiefs of Mission Across Central and South Asia

New Delhi : US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he addressed the US Ambassadors’ Regional Conference in India, hosted by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, through a call earlier in the day.

In a post on X, Rubio said it was an opportunity to engage with US ambassadors and chiefs of mission representing Washington across Central and South Asia.

The conference brought together US diplomatic representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives and Nepal.

Rubio said the interaction provided an opportunity to speak directly with the ambassadors and chiefs of mission working across the region.

The meeting comes against the backdrop of growing US diplomatic engagement across South and Central Asia, with regional issues, bilateral partnerships, economic cooperation and broader strategic priorities forming an important part of Washington’s engagement with the region.

US diplomatic missions in these countries play a key role in advancing bilateral relations, coordinating on regional developments and strengthening cooperation in areas including trade and investment, security, connectivity, energy and people-to-people ties.
