West Bengal Former Chief Minister Alleges Electoral Irregularities and Says Opposition Will Unite Against What It Calls ‘Vote Theft’
New Delhi : Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission after the INDIA bloc meeting in New Delhi, alleging irregularities in the electoral process and calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Banerjee alleged that a major electoral “scam” had taken place in the country and claimed that its consequences were being faced by the public. She further alleged that the BJP and the Election Commission worked in collusion to facilitate the formation of governments in different states.
Banerjee also levelled serious allegations against Gyanesh Kumar, accusing him of manipulating the electoral process, including alleged tampering with votes, destruction of EVMs and irregularities in vote counting.
She demanded that Gyanesh Kumar resign immediately, warning that failure to do so would lead to a larger political movement.
“If Gyanesh Kumar does not resign, we people will launch a massive movement,” Banerjee said, calling on Opposition parties and their supporters to unite against what she described as “vote theft.”
She said the Opposition would continue its campaign collectively and declared that the objective would be to protect democracy and the Constitution.
Banerjee concluded her remarks with a call for a united struggle, saying, “We will fight, we will win.”
