New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu attended a Mega Health and Seva Camp organised by Punjab Kesari and the Varishth Nagrik Kesari Club to mark the 45th Shaheedi Diwas of Lala Jagat Narayan Ji.
Addressing the gathering, Sandhu highlighted the importance of ensuring the health, safety, dignity and well-being of senior citizens, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accorded special priority to the welfare and self-respect of the elderly.
The Delhi LG said a progressive society must bring together the energy and aspirations of its youth with the experience, wisdom and guidance of senior citizens. He emphasised the need for continued community and institutional efforts to ensure that elderly citizens receive care and support.
Sandhu also highlighted initiatives undertaken by the Delhi Police for senior citizens, including the Senior Citizen App and regular outreach programmes aimed at strengthening their safety and providing timely assistance.
He said the Delhi government and administration remain committed to building a city where senior citizens can live with health, care, respect, security and dignity.
The health and seva camp was organised as part of the commemorative programme for Lala Jagat Narayan, founder of the Punjab Kesari group, who was assassinated in 1981. The event also underscored the importance of community service and social responsibility towards senior citizens.
