No Eligible Woman Should Be Deprived of Benefits under Lado Lakshmi Yojana: Chief Minister
Chandigarh/ New Delhi : Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said a detailed survey should be conducted to understand the background of less-educated youth and a report should be prepared and submitted. Based on the findings, an effective action plan should be implemented for their holistic development.
Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini was chairing a meeting on Wednesday during which presentations were made on good practices adopted by various departments. Chief Secretary Sh. Anurag Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretaries Sh. Sudhir Rajpal, Dr. Sumita Misra, Smt. G. Anupama, Sh. A.K. Singh and Sh. Vijayendra Kumar, along with several other senior officers, were present at the meeting.
The Chief Minister was informed that under the skill development programme in prisons, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are being run in five jails of the State to equip inmates with skills that would enable them to start their own livelihood ventures after their release. One-year training has been provided in eight different trades, with 123 inmates having completed their ITI courses. In addition, short-term vocational courses of up to three months are being conducted in 20 jails, in which 1,604 inmates have registered.
The meeting was informed that 3,321 inmates have also been registered under the ULLAS programme in prisons for further education. Similarly, enrolments have been made under educational programmes to provide education through IGNOU and NIOS.
It was further informed that, according to the educational profile of the prison population, there are 3,346 uneducated youth in various jails of the State. The Chief Minister directed that a detailed survey of such youth be conducted to ascertain the reasons behind their low level of education.
Ensure Geotagging of Every Tree
Reviewing the Forest Department, the Chief Minister said that against the target of planting 1.40 crore saplings this year, 70 lakh saplings have already been planted. Under the Green Cover Miyawaki initiative, plantations have been carried out on land parcels measuring more than one acre at 19 locations. In urban areas, one lakh saplings have been planted, and tree guards have been installed with the cooperation of the Urban Local Bodies Department. Geotagging of every tree is also being ensured.
It was informed that 1,392 types of plants are being raised in more than 200 nurseries across the State, while responsibility is also being fixed for nurturing the planted saplings for three years. The Chief Minister directed that eucalyptus saplings be planted in waterlogged areas. He also directed that a report be prepared and submitted on the survival rate of saplings planted last year.
2,157 Gram Panchayats Declared TB-Free
The Chief Minister was informed that Haryana is the first State in the country to provide Tele-ECG services, which are being made available across all 600 health institutions in the State. Through these services, serious health conditions were detected in time in 1,086 patients, enabling them to receive timely treatment.
Under the National TB Programme, the Health Department has so far declared 2,157 Gram Panchayats TB-free. Through Nikshay Mitras, TB patients are being provided medicines as well as financial assistance of Rs. 1,000. Facilities are also being provided to cancer patients at day-care centres.
It was further informed that under the Quality Assurance and Kayakalp Programme, 16 district hospitals out of the 22 districts have been renovated and provided with modern infrastructure. Work at the remaining hospitals will be completed by December.
Under the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar initiative, facilities for blood pressure and sugar screening, cancer-related services, ANC, PNC, vaccination, nutrition, mental health and counselling for adults are being provided at district and sub-divisional hospitals. During the current year, 2,20,247 women have benefited from these services.
Reviewing the SEWA Department, the Chief Minister directed that the benefit of the Lado Lakshmi Yojana should reach every eligible woman. No eligible woman should remain deprived of the benefits of the scheme. Pensions and financial assistance for persons with disabilities, widows, senior citizens and widowers are being provided in a proactive mode.
Deputy Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sh. Ajay Kumar, Commissioner and Secretary Sh. J. Ganesan, Home Secretary Smt. Amna Tasneem, and officers of the SEWA, Health, Home and Forest Departments were present at the meeting.
