Gurugram : Amid continuous heavy rainfall across Gurugram, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and Gurugram Police have issued advisories urging corporate offices and private institutions to allow employees to work from home to reduce traffic congestion and ensure public safety.
According to the DDMA advisory, the district recorded 97 mm of rainfall between 8:00 AM on August 5 and 8:00 AM on August 6, while the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for the district.
The administration warned that heavy rainfall could lead to severe waterlogging and traffic congestion across Gurugram. Corporate offices and private establishments have been advised to permit employees to work from home wherever feasible on August 6 and 7, allowing civic agencies to carry out road repair and drainage restoration work without disruption.
Councillor Parminder Kataria Raises Concern Over Recurring Waterlogging at Sheetla Mata Temple
Meanwhile, Gurugram Municipal Councillor Parminder Kataria expressed concern over the recurring waterlogging outside Sheetla Mata Temple, calling the situation alarming.
Kataria said that, as in previous years, heavy rain has once again led to severe water accumulation in front of the temple, affecting not only devotees but also nearby areas, including Sector 5, Ashok Vihar, and several surrounding localities.
He pointed out that the affected road serves as a crucial link between the Gurugram Railway Station and the Dwarka Expressway, making the recurring waterlogging a major inconvenience for commuters.
The councillor urged the state government and the district administration to implement a permanent solution to the problem so that residents and visitors are not forced to face the same difficulties during every monsoon season.

According to the district-wise rainfall report, the following rainfall was recorded during the 24-hour period:
- Gurugram Tehsil: 97 mm
- Kadipur Sub-Tehsil: 74 mm
- Harsaru Sub-Tehsil: 74 mm
- Wazirabad Tehsil: 55 mm
- Badshahpur Sub-Tehsil: 13 mm
- Sohna Tehsil: 110 mm
- Manesar Tehsil: 54 mm
- Pataudi Tehsil: 6 mm
- Farrukh Nagar Tehsil: 7 mm
With several parts of the district receiving substantial rainfall, authorities have warned that waterlogging and traffic disruptions are likely in low-lying areas and at major intersections.
Gurugram Police appealed to the corporate sector and private institutions to extend the Work From Home (WFH) facility to employees for the day. The advisory stated that reducing non-essential vehicular movement would significantly help traffic management teams maintain smoother traffic flow while ensuring that emergency services continue to operate without disruption.
The police also thanked citizens and organisations for their cooperation in prioritising public safety and appealed to commuters to exercise caution while travelling.
