Montevideo : Binoy George, India’s first resident Ambassador to Uruguay, formally presented his Letter of Accreditation to Uruguay’s Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin, marking a significant milestone in bilateral diplomatic relations.
The accreditation follows India’s recent decision to establish its first resident embassy in Uruguay, strengthening its diplomatic presence in South America and reaffirming its commitment to expanding engagement with the region.
The opening of the embassy and the appointment of Ambassador Binoy George are expected to enhance cooperation between India and Uruguay in areas such as trade, investment, agriculture, technology, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, and people-to-people exchanges.
India’s decision to open a resident mission in Uruguay reflects its broader strategy of deepening ties with Latin American countries and expanding diplomatic outreach across the region.
