New Delhi/Thimphu: India House hosted the inaugural dinner of the 15th edition of the Bhutan Echoes: Drukyul’s Literature and Arts Festival on July 31, with Her Majesty The Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck gracing the occasion.
The India-Bhutan Foundation continued its longstanding association with the festival, reaffirming its support for promoting literature, arts and people-to-people ties between India and Bhutan.
This year’s festival is centred on the theme “The Art of Being Human,” encouraging reflection on the essence of humanity amid contemporary challenges, including the growing influence of technology on society.
The inaugural evening also featured a cultural performance showcasing a blend of contemporary, classical and Sufi Indian music by Dr. Saba Hashmi, Teacher of Indian Culture at the Embassy’s Nehru Wangchuck Cultural Centre (NWCC), Thimphu, along with the Bhutanese music ensemble Druk Revival. The performances added a vibrant cultural dimension to the opening celebrations, highlighting the enduring cultural ties between India and Bhutan.
