Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued an open letter to the people of the state, calling upon them to observe the holy month of Shravan as a period of public service, environmental conservation, cleanliness and collective responsibility.
In his message, the Chief Minister described Shravan as a sacred month symbolising public welfare, respect for labour and the spirit of community participation. He said the season reflects nature’s renewal, as the hard work of farmers begins to bear fruit in the form of lush greenery and prosperity. According to him, the traditions associated with the worship of Lord Shiva inspire people to embrace discipline, service and harmony in their lives.
Highlighting the spiritual significance of Lord Shiva, Yogi Adityanath said that Mahadev represents the wisdom of nature. He noted that the Ganga flowing through Shiva’s matted locks, the crescent moon on his forehead, the serpent around his neck, and the presence of Nandi and his attendants all convey the timeless message of peaceful coexistence with nature.

The Chief Minister urged people to transform the month of Shravan into a campaign for service, cleanliness, water conservation, environmental protection and active public participation. He appealed to citizens to value every drop of water and protect every tree and plant, saying such efforts reflect the true spirit of Shravan.
He added that preserving natural resources and strengthening environmental awareness would lay the foundation for a prosperous, secure and developed Uttar Pradesh while reinforcing the state’s commitment to sustainable development and social well-being.
