New Delhi: Leaders of the INDIA bloc met in the chamber of Congress President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, to discuss key issues expected to be raised during the ongoing Parliament session. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi was also present at the meeting.
Following the meeting, the opposition alliance said it would seek answers from the Modi government on two major issues in Parliament.
The INDIA bloc demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah make a statement in Parliament explaining the alleged lathi-charge and pellet gun action against students.
The alliance also called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to respond to allegations concerning the alleged theft of donations and offerings made to the Shri Ram Mandir, claiming that the temple trust functioned under the Prime Minister’s oversight.
The meeting was attended by several senior leaders of the INDIA bloc, including Congress General Secretary K. C. Venugopal, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, NCP (Sharad Pawar) MP Supriya Sule, Samajwadi Party MPs, Trinamool Congress MPs Prof. Saugata Roy and Sagarika Ghose, as well as leaders from the CPI, CPI(M) and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction).
The opposition leaders said they would continue to press the government for answers on these issues during the Parliament session.
