The campaign will be conducted under the guidance of Justice Vikram Nath, Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Chairman of the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), in accordance with a prescribed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). At the district level, the campaign will be implemented under the supervision of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA Gurugram, Narendra Sura, and Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA Gurugram, Nisha.
Scheduled to run from October 1 to December 31, 2026, the campaign will focus on identifying pending cases that have the potential for amicable settlement through mediation, encouraging parties to resolve disputes without prolonged litigation.
Preparatory Phase Underway
As per the SOP, the preparatory phase will be carried out between August 1 and September 30, 2026. During this period, authorities will identify suitable pending cases, conduct pre-mediation screening, issue notices to the concerned parties, refer eligible matters to mediation centres, organise public awareness programmes, publish the list of selected cases and appoint nodal officers to coordinate the campaign.
The details of all shortlisted cases will be forwarded to the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) by September 30, following which the ‘Mediation for Nation 3.0’ campaign will be formally launched on October 1.
Wide Range of Cases to Be Covered
The campaign will prioritise mediation in a broad spectrum of disputes, including matrimonial matters, motor accident claim cases, cheque dishonour cases, compoundable criminal offences, consumer disputes, loan recovery and SARFAESI matters, execution proceedings, arbitration and commercial disputes, service matters, partition suits, eviction cases, land acquisition disputes, labour-related matters, and other civil cases that are suitable for settlement through mediation.
Flexible Mediation Process
The DLSA Gurugram has stated that every effort will be made to ensure mediation services remain easily accessible to litigants. Depending on the convenience of the parties, mediation sessions may be conducted offline, online or in hybrid mode. If required, mediation proceedings will also be organised on all seven days of the week to facilitate the maximum possible number of settlements.
Appeal for Public Participation
District and Sessions Judge Narendra Sura said mediation is a simple, cost-effective, speedy and efficient method of dispute resolution that not only reduces the burden on courts but also helps preserve relationships between the parties involved.
Chief Judicial Magistrate and DLSA Secretary Nisha appealed to advocates and the general public to actively participate in the ‘Mediation for Nation 3.0’ campaign and give priority to mediation for resolving disputes amicably. She added that DLSA Gurugram will organise extensive public awareness programmes and work in close coordination with all concerned departments and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the nationwide initiative.
