New Delhi /Thimphu: India’s Foreign Secretary Shri Vikram Misri and Bhutan’s Foreign Secretary Dasho Pema Lektup Dorji co-chaired the 5th India-Bhutan Development Cooperation Talks on Bhutan’s 13th Five-Year Plan, reaffirming the two countries’ close development partnership and shared commitment to Bhutan’s socio-economic progress.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the progress and implementation of a wide range of India-supported development projects being undertaken under Bhutan’s 13th Five-Year Plan. The discussions covered cooperation across multiple sectors, reflecting the broad and longstanding development partnership between the two neighbouring countries.
The talks focused on assessing the status of ongoing projects, reviewing implementation timelines, and identifying ways to further strengthen bilateral development cooperation to support Bhutan’s national development priorities.
Bhutan expressed appreciation for India’s continued assistance and acknowledged the significant contribution of Indian support towards the country’s socio-economic development. The Bhutanese side recognized India’s role as a key development partner in implementing infrastructure, connectivity, capacity-building, and other people-centric initiatives under the Five-Year Plan.
The meeting also reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to deepening their development partnership through close coordination and timely execution of projects that contribute to Bhutan’s sustainable and inclusive growth.
The India-Bhutan Development Cooperation Talks serve as an important institutional mechanism for reviewing bilateral development projects and ensuring effective implementation of initiatives undertaken with Indian assistance.
