New Delhi: In the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Oil India Limited on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants at Tehkhand and Okhla.
The proposed plants will process segregated organic waste to produce Bio-CNG and organic manure, promoting scientific waste management and sustainable urban development.
According to officials, the initiative aims to significantly reduce the burden on Delhi’s landfill sites by converting biodegradable waste into clean energy and value-added organic manure. The project is also expected to contribute to improved waste management practices and support the city’s environmental sustainability goals.
The Delhi Government said the collaboration marks another important step towards building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable capital, while encouraging the adoption of circular economy practices through the effective utilisation of organic waste.
