New Delhi : A new consular wing has been inaugurated at the US Embassy in New Delhi to strengthen visa processing, screening, and verification mechanisms aimed at enhancing border security and improving consular operations.

The upgraded facility is expected to provide advanced infrastructure for more rigorous vetting and processing of visa applications, reinforcing the United States’ focus on secure and efficient border management.

Speaking on the occasion, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasised that every visa decision is also a national security decision. He said the new facility would support embassy personnel working on the frontlines of safeguarding American interests and implementing President Donald Trump’s “America First” foreign policy priorities.

The new consular wing is also expected to improve operational efficiency and strengthen the overall capacity of the US Embassy in handling consular and visa-related services in India.
