Gurugram :Commemorations were held across the country today to mark the 150th anniversary of the national song “Vande Mataram.” Former Minister and BJP National Secretary Om Prakash Dhankar attended the event held at DAV Public School, Sector 49, Gurugram, as the chief guest.
At the event, all attendees, including over 3,000 students, stood in attention at 9:50 am sharp and sang the national song “Vande Mataram” in unison. This special mass singing was performed at this specific time across the country, further instilling a sense of national unity, patriotism, and collective pride throughout the nation.
O.P. Dhankhar said that Vande Mataram is not just a song; it is the spiritual and cultural core of the Indian freedom movement. This song inspired thousands and millions of revolutionaries who refused to bow before foreign rule and happily accepted the gallows to protect their motherland.
Recalling Ram Prasad Bismil’s revolutionary song “Sarfaroshi ki Tamanna” and Khudiram Bose’s smiling execution, he said that Vande Mataram was a flame flowing through their veins. It was this song whose courage inspired Chandrashekhar Azad to resolve, “I was born free and will die free.” He never bowed before oppression; it was the spirit of Vande Mataram that kept him steadfast.
He said that today the entire country is celebrating the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’ with great pride and honor. This song reminds us of bravery and sacrifice, and through this celebration, we must pledge that we not only sing ‘Vande Mataram’ but also worship Mother India and remain dedicated to her glory. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is moving forward on the path of a developed India, and we must also become active participants in this campaign.
Om Prakash Dhankar also inaugurated a special exhibition on the life and works of Shri Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, the author of Vande Mataram. The exhibition showcases his birth, education, literary journey, his patriotic thoughts, and the Vande Mataram. Important events related to the composition of the song have been presented in an attractive manner.
Along with this, the history of the song Vande Mataram, its inspirational role and the enthusiasm and national consciousness that this song aroused in the Indian psyche during the freedom movement have also been depicted in detail.
On this occasion, many dignitaries including Additional Deputy Commissioner Vatsal Vashisht, SDM Badshahpur Sanjeev Singla, Chief Executive Officer Zila Parishad Sumit Kumar, BJP State Secretary Mrs. Gargi Kakkar, BJP District President Sarvpriy Tyagi, District Education Officer Indu Bokan and Principal of DAV School Dr. Charu Mani were present.
