Vice Presidential Candidate of Opposition Sudarshan Reddy Appeals Vote for Country

New Delhi : Vice Presidential candidate from the opposition party and former Supreme Court judge Sudarshan Reddy has appealed to all the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs to vote in the interest of the country in the election for the post of Vice President. He has released an emotional video message to his MPs to vote to save the country by breaking party lines.

It is noteworthy that early vice presidential elections will be held in India on 9 September 2025 following the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar due to health concerns.  Article 67 of the Constitution of India provides that the vice president of India shall remain in office for a period of five years. According to Clause 2 of Article 68 of the Constitution, an election to fill a vacancy in the office of the vice president occurring due to his death, resignation or removal, or otherwise will be held “as soon as possible” after it goes vacant. This is the first early election for the office since 1987.

Following the said rule the Election Commission of India announced  early election for this second highest constitutional post of the Country . For this election C P Radhakrishnan is the BJP led NDA candidate where Congress led INDIA has announced former Supreme Court judge B Sudarshan Reddy as its candidate .

Opposition candidate Former judge Sudarshan Reddy has said in his video message that “Vice-President elections are going to be held in 2-3 days. I request everyone to vote wisely in the interest of the country. I am confident that whatever decision you take, it will not be in my or your interest, but in the interest of the country.”

He further said that “Whatever your decision will be, I am ready to accept it. This country belongs to all of us. It is the responsibility of all of us to take care of the country. This is not just a vote for the post of Vice-President, it is a vote for the soul of India. Let us all together strengthen our republic and create a legacy that future generations can be proud of.”
