Singapore PM Arrives in New Delhi on India Visit : 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations of India and Singapore

New Delhi : Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong arrived in India on Tuesday . This is Wong’s first visit to India on a three-day official visit. He has come with his wife and a high-level delegation of cabinet ministers and senior officials.

There will be bilateral talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Wong on Thursday, after which the Singapore Prime Minister will also meet President Draupadi Murmu. On Wednesday, Wong will visit Rajghat and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. During this, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and other dignitaries will also meet him.

During this visit, agreements are likely to be signed in many important areas including finance, digital innovation, skill development, civil aviation, maritime cooperation and space technology. The Ministry of External Affairs said, “Singapore is an important partner of India, especially in our ‘Act East’ policy. Bilateral relations were transformed into a comprehensive strategic partnership during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Singapore in September 2024.”

This visit is taking place on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Singapore. The Ministry of External Affairs said that this visit will give the two Prime Ministers an opportunity to review comprehensive cooperation and chart out a roadmap for future partnership. They will also discuss regional and global issues.
