Gurugram : Preparations for Panchayat by-election in the district have been completed. Tomorrow, on Sunday, June 15, voting will be conducted for the post of Sarpanch in five panchayats of Gurugram district – Nunera, Baikheda, Ranika Singhola, Palasoli and Rahnwa and for one Panch post in Saidpur Mohammadpur Panchayat.
District Election Officer and DC Ajay Kumar said that all the arrangements for voting have been completed and the administration is fully alert to conduct the voting process in a fair, peaceful and transparent manner. A total of 7 polling stations have been set up for the by-election, where voting will be held from 8 am to 6 pm. He said that after the completion of voting, the counting of votes will be done at the polling station itself and the results will be declared there. If for any reason re-polling is necessary at any place, then the date of June 17 has been fixed for this as per the schedule set by the State Election Commission.
District Development and Panchayat Officer Navneet Kaur said that for the by-election of Sarpanch post in five Panchayats of Gurugram district, 4 candidates are in the fray in Nunera Panchayat, 2 in Baikheda, 3 in Ranika Singhola, 2 each in Palasoli and Rahnwa. Similarly, in Saidpur Mohammadpur Panchayat, two candidates are contesting for the post of Panch in Ward 8. Navneet Kaur said that the district administration has appealed to all the voters to exercise their franchise by playing an active role in this great festival of democracy.
