Electricity bills of State’s Consumers will be Linked to Aadhaar card : Anil Vij

-Bijli Aadalat (“Electricity Courts”) will be organised at circle offices to hear consumer grievances

-Consumer grievances will be heard every Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

-People should be made aware about paying electricity bills

-Strict action should be taken against those who do not pay electricity bills

Chandigarh : Haryana’s Energy Minister Anil Vij said that the electricity bills of the state’s consumers will be linked to their Aadhaar cards. He also directed the officers to correct any erroneous bills within one month.
Sh. Vij shared this information during a meeting with the officers of the Energy Department held here today.

The Energy Minister instructed officers to organised “Electricity Courts” in circle offices every Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM to hear consumer grievances. Issues such as incorrect billing, meter readings and faulty meters will be addressed during these Adalats.

Public facilities should be improved in electricity offices

Sh. Vij also directed that better public facilities be provided in electricity offices. Arrangements should be made for benches to sit on, drinking water and sheds considering the summer heat. He emphasized raising public awareness through various means to encourage timely payment of electricity bills. He also directed that a dedicated cell be established in the Energy Department to monitor court-stayed cases.

Electricity equipment should be available in sufficient quantity at the sub-division level

He instructed the officers to ensure that adequate quantities of electricity equipment such as transformers, wires, conductors, poles, etc., are available at all sub-divisions. Arrangements should also be made for vehicles and safety kits for the staff. He stated that transformers in urban areas should be repaired within one hour and within 2 hours in rural areas. Sh. Vij stressed that strict action should be taken against those who do not pay their electricity bills, and recovery should be enforced. Additionally, special attention should be given to power breakdowns, faults and transformer servicing during the summer season.

Present on the occasion were Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy Department Apoorva Kumar Singh, ADGP  Amitabh Singh Dhillon, Managing Director of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam  A. Sreenivas and Managing Director of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ashok Kumar Meena,along with other officers.
