India Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Global Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Capacity Building
New Delhi/New York: A visiting Indian Parliamentary delegation met with Alexander Zouev, Acting Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), to discuss ways to further strengthen cooperation between India and the United Nations in the fight against terrorism.
During the meeting, the delegation and the UNOCT leadership reviewed the strong and longstanding cooperation between India and UNOCT and discussed avenues for further enhancing joint efforts to address the global threat posed by terrorism.
The Indian Members of Parliament reiterated India’s firm commitment to international counter-terrorism efforts, including strengthening institutional capabilities and supporting capacity-building initiatives to help countries effectively prevent and combat terrorism.
The interaction also underscored the importance of multilateral cooperation, information sharing, institutional capacity building and coordinated international action in confronting the evolving threat of terrorism.
The meeting reflected India’s continued engagement with the United Nations in advancing collective efforts towards a safer and more secure international environment and strengthening the global response against terrorism.
