ICGS Shaunak Arrives in Perth for QUAD-at-Sea Ship Observer Mission

Deployment with Australia, Japan and US Partners to Strengthen Maritime Coordination and Interoperability in Indo-Pacific

Perth, Australia: Indian Coast Guard Ship Shaunak has arrived in Perth, Australia, to participate in the QUAD-at-Sea Ship Observer Mission, alongside partner forces from Australia, Japan and the United States.

The deployment is aimed at enhancing inter-agency coordination, operational interoperability and the exchange of best practices among the maritime forces of the four QUAD countries.

The ship is carrying QUAD Sea Riders, who will participate in the mission and gain operational exposure while facilitating greater understanding and coordination among the participating forces.

The mission focuses on strengthening cooperation in support of maritime safety and security and promoting a free, open and rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific.

The Indian Coast Guard said the deployment is aligned with India’s MAHASAGAR vision, which emphasises enhanced maritime cooperation, security and collective efforts with partner countries across the Indian Ocean Region and the wider Indo-Pacific.

The participation of ICGS Shaunak in the QUAD observer mission reflects India’s continued engagement with Australia, Japan and the United States in strengthening maritime partnerships and promoting a secure, stable and rules-based maritime environment in the Indo-Pacific.
