India Highlights Tech-Enabled Justice System, New Criminal Laws at 15th UN Crime Prevention Congress

New Delhi/Abu Dhabi: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal held a bilateral meeting with UAE Minister of Justice Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi on the sidelines of the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting and his participation in the UN Congress, India highlighted its efforts to build a modern, citizen-centric, technology-enabled and globally connected justice system.

Addressing the UN Congress, Meghwal outlined India’s recently enacted criminal laws — the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). He highlighted their emphasis on the use of technology, speedy delivery of justice, forensic investigation and digital-first legal procedures.

India’s participation at the 15th UN Congress reflects its focus on strengthening modern legal frameworks, digital innovation, institutional capacity, effective enforcement and international legal cooperation.

The discussions also underscored the importance of developing a justice architecture capable of responding to the challenges and opportunities emerging from a rapidly evolving digital world.
